Lisa is an anthropologist who has worked in the field of anti-human trafficking in Asia for 17 years, beginning as a field researcher on the Thai-Myanmar border, then in the U.S. State Department; in the NGO sector, as Regional Director for the Asia Foundation; and in the UN, most recently as Chief Technical Advisor for UNIAP. In 2014 she established Project Issara and the Issara Institute (‘issara’ means ‘freedom’ in several Southeast Asian languages) to build a multi-stakeholder alliance to eliminate human trafficking from global supply chains. She is a recognized authority on human trafficking, regularly appearing on CNN and in other global televised, print and internet media.
