Ann Cotton

Founder and President, Camfed International

Ann Cotton OBE is a social entrepreneur who founded Camfed in 1993 to advance the education of girls in Africa. By 2011, Camfed had supported 1,940,700 children and young women across Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Cotton was named UK Social Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004 and was awarded the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship and a UK Beacon Fellowship in 2005. She became a Schwab Social Entrepreneur in 2006 and received an honorary doctorate in law from the University of Cambridge the following year. Ann is Social Entrepreneur in Residence at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School.
