U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues

Cathy Russell currently serves as the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, where she focuses on advancing the status of women and girls globally. Prior to this role, she served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff to Dr. Jill Biden. While at the White House, Ambassador Russell coordinated the Administration’s strategy to prevent and respond to gender-based violence globally. She previously served as a Senior Advisor to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on international women’s issues, and also as Staff Director of the Senate Judiciary Committee where she worked on the Violence Against Women Act.
